Caring for Your EternaSilk Pillow
Our covers are crafted from 22-momme mulberry silk — a luxury, denser weave that keeps color glowing and drape substantial. Every pillow includes a 22×22 feather insert so it arrives full and ready to style.
Quick care, at a glance
- Spot clean promptly. Blot (don’t rub) with cool water and a silk-safe detergent.
- Hand wash cold or machine wash delicate/cold in a mesh bag, silk-only load.
- No bleach, fabric softener, or optical brighteners.
- Air-dry flat or on a rack out of direct sunlight. Do not tumble-dry the silk cover.
- Steam lightly or press on low through a clean press cloth.
- Insert: fluff by hand; refresh in the dryer on no-heat/air-fluff with clean dryer balls.
Silk cover — full care
Hand wash (preferred)
- Fill a clean basin with cold water; add a small amount of silk-safe, pH-neutral detergent.
- Submerge the cover and gently agitate. Soak a few minutes.
- Rinse in cold water until clear. Do not wring or twist.
- Press out excess water by rolling the cover in a clean towel.
- Lay flat or hang to drip dry away from direct sun.
Machine (if you must)
- Turn the cover inside out and place it in a fine mesh laundry bag.
- Wash cold on delicate/silk cycle, silk-only load, gentle spin.
- Remove promptly. Do not tumble-dry. Air-dry as above.
What to avoid
- Bleach, fabric softener, enzyme stain removers, or optical brighteners (they dull/roughen silk).
- High heat, direct sun drying, or rough surfaces that can snag.
De-crease & finish
- Use a handheld steamer, or iron on lowest silk setting through a clean press cloth.
- Always steam/press on the reverse when possible.
Feather insert — care & refresh
- Daily: fluff by hand; give a few light “karate chops” to restore loft.
- Refresh: tumble in a dryer on no-heat/air-fluff with two–three clean dryer balls for 10–20 minutes to break up clumps and re-loft.
- Washing (occasional): if needed, wash on delicate with low-sudsing detergent; dry on no heat or low-heat with care and dryer balls until completely dry. Heat that’s too high can make feathers brittle.
- Store in a breathable cotton bag; never compress long-term.
Storage
- Store silk covers clean and fully dry in a breathable garment bag or tissue-lined drawer.
- Avoid cedar oils or mothballs touching silk; they can leave marks.
Why 22-momme?
“Momme” is silk’s weight standard. A higher momme means more silk fibers are packed into the weave. At 22-momme, the fabric is denser and more durable than lighter 19–20 momme silks, with a richer hand and longer-lasting sheen — ideal for daily use pillows.
Care notes are based on silk care best practices (wash cold, silk-safe detergents; avoid bleach/brighteners; air-dry; low-heat pressing) and feather-insert guidance (no-heat or low-heat tumble with dryer balls; avoid high heat).
